Перша підгрупа підрядних речень в англійській мові потребують союзах as (як), than (ніж), like, as if, as though, as ... as, so ... as, as ... as if.
А ось для другої підійдуть though / although - хоча, no matter how - як би не було, no matter what - щоб там не було, в будь-якому випадку, in spite of the fact that - незважаючи на той факт що, notwithstanding that - незважаючи на те що, whoever - хто б не, whatever - що б не, however - як би не, no matter what - що б не, no matter how - як би не.
She is looking at her mother as if she does not recognize her. - Вона дивиться на матір так, як ніби-то не впізнає її.
He reads as quickly as he can. - Він читає так швидко, як може.
No matter what he says, I do not believe him. - Що б він не говорив, я йому не вірю.
